Bio

Gina Waldman is a fine artist from Johannesburg. Since completing her Masters in Fine Arts MA(FA) at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2003, Waldman has developed her own unique style, which as distinct as it is, is also constantly evolving. She is a multi-disciplinary artist and draws inspiration from the vast materials she uses- which now includes printed fabric and wallpaper designs in collaboration with Fabric Bank.

The themes in her work are myriad and complex, but recurring motifs include kitsch, excess, women’s work, decorating, collecting and consumerism. Her more recent work has more of a storytelling narrative based on actual events, people, places and spaces.
